Semper Fi Brother and Sister Marines,
One thing I've learned during my life is to not take myself to seriously. A hard lesson to learn because life dictates serious application in what ever we do. In my Bio you may have read my favorite quote, “…It is our duty to set forth positive influences in order to build a better tomorrow.” This is something I do take very seriously and sometimes find difficult to carry out. My goal for our Detachment is to do just that and build a better tomorrow for us, the Marine Corps League, and our corner of the world.
I learned a long time ago that we need to prepare for the future by preparing to replace ourselves, so I am charging each of our current members to recruit new members. We need new blood to carry on our mission into the future!
My personal mission will be to meet each of our members. I want to know you and hopefully get more group participation from our membership. We need each of you at meetings, with fundraising, and with event participation. I am no different than anyone, we can’t always be Johnny on the Spot, however we can still participate in some way. We need each other and we need to put forth the Pride we have as Marines and Marine Corps League members. Health and Family issues often prevent full participation and prior commitments also weigh in, but as Marines we know how to Confront, Overcome, and Adapt every situation.
I, and our Board of Trustees, will be looking at different things we can do to increase participation, confront issues, and further develop our Detachment as the premier unit within the Department of New Mexico and the Rocky Mountain Division. All lofty, but very doable goals!
Remember we are Marines and we all have the Esprit de Corps engrained in us. We may have differences of opinion, but we all know how to work toward the common good and the objective together.
Congratulation to our 2nd Quarterly Raffle Winner Carla G. (#189) and our June 2022 Raffle Winner Carla G. (#185). An extra special thank you to Carla G. for donating her winnings back to the Detachment to further our goal of supporting the Veterans and Youth in our community.
